Anna is the Firm Administrator who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes, managing accounting and ensuring our systems and procedures are organized and efficient. While you might only connect with her about payments or billing, Anna’s true passion is helping people succeed. Her dedication to our team and clients is at the heart of everything she does.
I was drawn to support Paul’s shift to focus on teens and young adult criminal defense because I understand kids. I’ve always recognized that young people do not always make the best decisions and keep their futures in mind, even if they think they are. Sometimes they might think, “Oh, this will be fun,” and then they make a mistake that winds up screwing up their future. I can sympathize with them and recognize that focusing on teens and young adults could help many people keep their future on track.
My favorite criminal defense success story involves helping a family keep its future on track. One of the firm’s clients faced addiction issues and had a criminal charge leveled against them because of this. This client lost many of their parental rights due to this charge, and their child was taken away from them. During the two years that I handled this case, I got to know the client very well. I held many check-ins with the client to confirm that everything was going well and ensure that everything possible was being done to resolve the case effectively.
The amount that they grew and were just able to get over these terrible things, one after another, that they were dealing with in their life. By the end of the case, we were able to resolve the case in a way that they were beyond happy with, and then they also were able to spend Christmas with their kid. It was just amazing to be a small part of that and be able to help in any way that we could.
Prior to the firm, I was a legal assistant for a very long time. During that time, I was in college, for accounting. I wound up getting my bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting, and then worked for a tax firm and a forensic accounting firm. When Paul decided that he wanted to focus more on teens and young adults, I decided I wanted to be a bigger part of that and so I transitioned back to kind of a legal assistant paralegal role at that point and then it just has kind of morphed from there over the years.
Our standards at the firm are much higher than the standards that I’ve seen in other criminal defense firms. I recognize that at our practice we check-in with our clients to ensure they are ready to navigate their legal process. Our staff are dedicated so they try to ensure that each client fully understands the consequences of any decisions they have to make. I love that everyone at our firm wants to make sure that our clients know what is going on and are as prepared as possible to alleviate any stresses or anxieties that come with criminal charges.
I love to read, travel, and hike in her free time. I also have three kids, which means I spend a lot of my time chasing them around! I also co-host a podcast called “Shelf Spiel” in my spare time to share my love of reading.
