Michaela Devine is an attorney at Ghanouni Teen & Young Adult Defense Firm who is truly passionate about helping young people navigate difficult legal challenges. Since 2019, she has been dedicated to making a difference, bringing both skill and compassion to every case she handles. Her experience as a prosecutor across Georgia—handling cases from traffic offenses to complex gang and drug-related charges—gives her a well-rounded perspective that benefits our clients. Michaela is a true advocate for those she serves, always keeping their future in mind.
“I became a lawyer because I wanted to help people. I believe that everyone deserves a helping hand and a compassionate advocate throughout the process. I know that oftentimes, the path that teens and young people have been put on aren’t solely their choices and if I have an opportunity to help put them back on the right path, that would be amazing.”
“One of my favorite criminal defense success stories is actually a personal one that still resonates with me today. I had a close friend with a brother, named “Shaun”, who had issues with substance abuse which led to a series of arrests related to his addiction. Many people had turned their backs on Shaun and it was difficult to still support him trying to turn his life around given his past choices. He ended up entering DUI court and, despite how many people didn’t believe in him, he graduated from a really strict court program and has completely turned his life around, even starting his own business and speaking to others in drug court programs to encourage them. In my work, I often think of his success story as I’m reminded that it’s never too late to turn around and that everyone deserves second chances.”
“Having been a prosecutor, I know the inner workings of a prosecutor’s mind, including how they think and what they are looking for in terms of resolutions….Knowing the other side of things will help me provide a better defense strategy for my clients.”
“ I know that Paul runs a firm with people who really care about clients….For a young person who is being accused of a crime, when you think about finding the best advocate to defend you, you want someone who specializes in something and Paul has the only firm I’ve ever known that really specializes in juvenile and young adult defense and that makes a huge difference in outcomes.”
Outside of work I love to hike. I also love board games and CrossFit. I am married with a new baby boy, so I also enjoy spending lots of time with my family, including my mom and two sisters.
