Michaela Devine is an attorney at Ghanouni Teen & Young Adult Defense Firm. She has been practicing law since 2019 after receiving her undergraduate degree from the University of North Florida in Cultural Anthropology and her law degree from Shepard Broad College of Law shortly after. Michaela has always been an ambitious attorney, serving as a member of the Nova Trial Advocacy program where she worked to strengthen and hone in on her litigation skills. Throughout her career she has served as a prosecutor in all three counties of Georgia handling everything from traffic court to running a unit focused on gang crimes and drug trafficking. She has received advanced training in DUIs, field sobriety, and gang evidence, offering a unique perspective and range of experiences to our firm.
Ms. Devine feels personally fulfilled in her decision to become a lawyer and represent individuals who have been accused of a crime, particularly teens and young adults.
“I became a lawyer because I wanted to help people. I believe that everyone deserves a helping hand and a compassionate advocate throughout the process. I know that oftentimes, the path that teens and young people have been put on aren’t solely their choices and if I have an opportunity to help put them back on the right path, that would be amazing.”
Ms. Devine is committed to working closely with her clients and getting strong case results that will help clients get their lives back. She attributes much of her success to a strong sense of compassion and empathy having experienced hardships in her own life growing up and overcoming them by focusing on a brighter future as a lawyer. Ms. Devine now uses her former prosecution skills and her deep relationships to provide a high level of service and advocacy to clients from the other side of the law.
“Having been a prosecutor, I know the inner workings of a prosecutor’s mind, including how they think and what they are looking for in terms of resolutions….Knowing the other side of things will help me provide a better defense strategy for my clients.”
Ms. Devine joins the Ghanouni Teen and Young Adult Defense firm with a deep desire and commitment to change the trajectory of clients’ futures.
“ I know that Paul runs a firm with people who really care about clients….For a young person who is being accused of a crime, when you think about finding the best advocate to defend you, you want someone who specializes in something and Paul has the only firm I’ve ever known that really specializes in juvenile and young adult defense and that makes a huge difference in outcomes.”
All work aside, Ms. Devine is an incredible mother, wife, daughter and sister to her family. She loves to hike in her free time and stays agile playing board games and doing CrossFit.
